Emir Kapetanovic's film Re:generation won the special prize in the category Best Documentary Film at the South-East European (SEE) Film Festival in Los Angeles.
“I'm proud that after almost 40 screenings across the world, we were finally recognised in very strong competition of this year's SEE Film Festival. I'm most pleased by the fact that many people said that the film gave them the opportunity to see a positive story about Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the first time,” Kapetanovic said.
The film was shown on March 8, within the final Festival night, at Writers Guild Theatre on Beverly Hills. It was also nominated in the Best Photography category.
The Re:generation film was filmed within the USAID's project ‘Re:generation’ and very quickly became a symbol of reconciliation and understanding among members of different ethnic groups in the country. It also became a symbol of the success of Bosnia's cinematography.
