Serbian Energy Minister Aleksandar Antic said that plans are being drawn up for a gas pipeline from Belgrade to Banja Luka in neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina as the next step in the Turkish Flow project.

“The next step in that gas pipeline is the Belgrade-Banja Luka project which would secure natural gas for Bosnia-Herzegovina,” Antic told the pro-government TV Pink.

He said the construction of the Turskih Flow includes several priorities. “The first priority is to increase the capacities of the underground storage facility at Banatski Dvor from 450 million cubic metres to 750 million cubic metres of gas,” Antic said and added that there are plans to build the Itebej storage facility with a capacity of about a billion cubic metres and another storage facility outside the town of Pancevo.

The minister said the Turskih Flow project would meet Serbia’s industrial needs and help bring in new investors.

The Turskih Flow gas pipeline will enter Serbia at the eastern town of Zajecar and will exit at the northern border crossing of Horgos to Hungary. The 403 kilometre pipeline will pass through 23 municipalities.
