The British Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Matthew Field held a reception in Sarajevo marking Queen Elizabeth II's 93rd birthday.
Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1925 and took the throne in 1952. As the longest-reigning monarch in British history, she witnessed the UK get 13 prime ministers and the US elect 11 presidents.
This year also marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bosnia and the UK.
“During this 25-year-long friendship and partnership, little could have been done without the tireless work and creativity of our Embassy and British Council's staff. Many of whom are still here, today,” Field said.
Thanking them for the dedicated work that they did, Field awarded a special certificate of the British Foreign Office to Senad Zoljic, an Embassy employee who's been with the embassy since its opening.
Address the Bosnian and foreign officials at the ceremony, Field said that he believes in Bosnia's citizens.
The things they are doing to have a better, fairer and more open country is inspirational, he noted, adding that citizens’ priorities are the rule of law and the fight against corruption, as well as the creation of new jobs.
