Students in Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity Republika Srpska might start studying the Chinese language as soon as next school year.

Republika Srpska Government adopted on Thursday a document on introducing the Chinese language in schools across the entity, which composes almost one half of Bosnia's whole territory.

Given a positive experience in the schools which earlier provided the Chinese language classes as optional and great interests that students showed, Republika Srpska's Ministry of Culture and Education decided to expand the practice in all schools in this entity.

The Government authorised the education and culture minister to sign an agreement between the ministry and Beijing-based Confucius Institute of China, which would provide Chinese language teachers.
