FM: Bosnia only country without representatives in PACE

Bosnia and Herzegovina sent out a “horrible message” by failing to appoint a delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak said on Tuesday, stressing that Bosnia will be the only country without its representatives in what he said was the largest international organisation in Europe.

Following a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador to Bosnia, Crnadak said that the ones to blame for Bosnia not having its representatives in the PACE are “the ones sitting in the leadership i.e. the parties that are represented in the leadership of Bosnia's Parliament.”

“They had to reach an agreement because this is really a pity for everyone,” said the minister.

Due to political disagreements, Bosnian Parliament's lower house failed to meet in an urgent session to discuss the matter before the deadline for naming the delegation, set for June 25, expires.

The June session of the PACE is marked as very important as the members will appoint a new Secretary General of the Council of Europe and judges of the European Court of Human Rights. The session will also mark the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe.
