Turkey supports the peace among the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Balkans, Bosnia's Ambassador to Turkey Tarik Sadovic said on Thursday in The Turkish capital which marked the 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

The commemoration was held under auspices of Bosnia's Embassy in Turkey and Ankara's Municipality Kecioren.

Sadovic said during the event that this date is marked as the day of memory on those who died, stressing that neither the victims nor their families should ever be forgotten. Bosnia must stay strong so that this catastrophe happens never again.

“If Turkey had had this kind of power and leadership back then, this catastrophe wouldn't have happened in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said ambassador Sadovic.

Turkish MP Emrullah Isler assessed that the Srebrenica genocide was a barbarian crime, which killed thousands of Muslims in the heart of Europe and in front of the whole world.

“Turkey must be strong because when we are strong the Balkans and the Middle East will be peaceful,” he added.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier said that the genocide in Srebrenica will never be forgotten.
