The fire on Mount Visocica near the central Bosnian town of in Konjic is still active and now it covers several acres of pine and beech forest but it is not a threat to the local population, yet.
On the ground, members of the Konjic fire brigade and employees of public enterprise “Sumarstvo Prenj” are fighting the fire on accessible parts of the terrain, said from the Civil Protection Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity.
Helicopter service is unable to engage the flames to high concentration of fog and smoke on the Borac Lake but if weather permits, aerial firefighting is expected to continue throughout the day.
As of Saturday morning, Bosnian Armed Forces helicopter started operating in the area and conducted four flights so far. This has significantly slowed the progress and spread of fires near the village of Grusca.
