Bosnia's Border Police chief says no incidents with Croatia over migrants

Bosnia and Herzegovina's Border Police have not recorded any incidents with Croatian authorities regarding migrant pushbacks, Bosnia's Border Police chief Zoran Galic said on Friday, denying a statement by Security Minister Dragan Mektic that Croatia was infringing on the country's territorial sovereignty.

“We have not identified any incidents with Croatia. Everything else are fabrications aimed at unnecessarily raising tensions,” Galic said.

He explained that the border police are exclusively responsible for identifying border incidents.

Mektic on Wednesday accused Croatia's police of illegally entering Bosnian territory and pushing back illegal migrants, and said that that would be prevented at all costs, even if that means an open conflict.

Deputy Security Minister Mijo Kresic tried to downplay Mektic's statement, saying that his stance was of a ‘personal view.’
