The death toll of the massive 6.5 magnitude earthquake which struck Albania in the night between Monday and Tuesday is now 40, the country’s Defence Ministry said on Thursday.
Turkey, Kosovo and other regional countries have sent rescue teams to help Albanian authorities which are still searching the ruins of the devastated buildings for survivors in Durres, the area which was affected the most.
More than 650 people have been injured.
Some 1450 people whose homes were destroyed are currently staying in in more than 180 tents that have been set u in Durres and the surrounding villages.
