The death toll of the devastating 6.4 magnitude earthquake which hit Albania in the night between Monday and Tuesday has risen to 49, Albania’s PM Edi Rama said on Friday.
Most of the casualties were in the coastal western city of Durres, where 25 people lost their lives. Another 23 people were killed around the village of Thuman, while another one was killed in Kurbin, Kosova Press reported.
Aided by rescue teams from Turkey, Kosovo, Serbia, Greece and other countries, Albanian authorities continue their search for people they suspect are still trapped under the rubble in Durres.
