The dangerous situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the consequence of nationalist leaders being in power throughout the region, as well of mistakes the international community made in Bosnia, Social Democratic Party leader Boris Tadic said on Saturday.

Tadic told the Danas newspaper that, for the past eight years, there has been an “erosion of all that was positive” which could calm regional tensions and added that there is a new threat of disintegration of existing countries and “secret warmongering.”

“The region is burdened by conflicts, which ultimately remains the key argument for European politicians who oppose enlargement in their efforts to deny the Western Balkan countries full EU membership,” Tadic said.

He also commented on statements by Serbia’s Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar and Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic on the situation in Montenegro, saying that the two ministers have committed the crime of inciting conflict.

“I particularly want to emphasize that their statements are socially and politically dangerous because they represent a precedent that can then be applied to members of all other national minorities,” he said.

Tadic said that Loncar's apology was not enough and that he should have been removed from office.
