Croatia supports Bosnia's accession to the European Union and NATO, Croatian Ambassador Ivan Sabolic said in two separate meetings with Bosnia's prime minister Zoran Tegeltija and Defence Minister Sifet Podzic.

PM Tegeltija emphasised the dedication of the Council of Ministers to resume the country's European Union accession process. He said that this required joint action of authorities at all levels in the country, said a press release issued following the meetings.

Tegetlija also pointed out the importance of consistent compliance with the Dayton Agreement, a peace treaty which ended the Bosnian war of the 1990s and which contains the Constitution, as well as respect for the constitutional structure of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which implies the full equality of all three constitutive peoples. That is, the prime minister said, crucial for the smooth operation of institutions at the state level and for enhancement of political dialogue.

Tegetlija and Sabolic assessed the relations between Bosnia and Croatia as good, and expressed their commitment to solving all outstanding issues. The two officials spoke about the current security and health challenges in connection with the migrant crisis and the coronavirus outbreak.

During the meeting with minister Podzic, the ambassador emphasised that Croatia supported Bosnia on its path towards EU and NATO memberships.

The minister said there were 67 joint activities planned for 2020, and that they were all aimed to support Bosnia's path to the EU and NATO but also to train the members of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Croatia.
