Bosnia’s tripartite Presidency has decided on Wednesday to engage the Armed Forces in the battle against the coronavirus by deploying soldiers at tent settlements at border crossing where people entering the country will be placed in quarantine for 14 days.
The decision was formally adopted after the three Presidency members expressed support for the initiative to set up the quarantine stations at a session the two days prior.
The Defence Minister is now authorised to deploy non-combat equipment and technical resources of the Armed Forces as well as personnel based on requests by civilian institutions to help efforts to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading.
The authorization will expire in 30 days.
Bosnia has 39 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
