Images of the busiest parts of Sarajevo nearly empty are usually a rare sight but have become the norm due to the threat of COVID-19 and the strict measures authorities introduced to prevent an outbreak.
Authorities in the Federation (FBiH) entity, where Sarajevo is located, have banned as of Wednesday all public gatherings and ordered cafes, bars, restaurants and cultural institutions to close down in order to minimize the spread of the coronavirus.
On Thursday, they also introduced a ban on nearly all public transport which will be in effect as of March 21.
