the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) unit of Bosnia's Armed Forces performed disinfection of public spaces in the central-Bosnian town of Maglaj, at the request of local authorities, the Defence Ministry said Wednesday.

Members of the CBRN unit responded to the request of Maglaj Local authorities and 34 hours after receiving the call, arrived in the town accompanied by the team of the most experienced medical technicians from the Demining unit of Bosnia's Armed Forces.

A total of 40 army personnel, three special tanks and nine special purpose vehicles were assigned to the task. Prior to deployment, the Ministry said the underwent a preventive medical examination for coronavirus.

In performing the task, Bosnia's Armed Forces members used Izosan and Bio Environ disinfectants, which recently donated by the United States Government, the Ministry said.

The Ministry recalled the CBRN unit was trained to carry out specific tasks of disinfection and decontamination of contaminated areas. The unit underwent special training with members of the National Guard of Maryland, US, which was successfully implemented, both in Bosnia and in the US, through the implementation of the planned Military to Military (M2M) training.

Also, the Ministry noted that the CBRN unit completed special training at the modern Regional Training Center in Krusevac, Serbia, within the framework of bilateral military cooperation with the Republic of Serbia.
