The head of the WHO Office in Serbia said on Wednesday that it’s highly probable that a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic is coming next autumn.

“We hope that the summer will be relatively calm but there is certainly a great probability that it will return in the autumn with perhaps some epidemic peaks over the summer,” Dr Marijan Ivanusa told the Serbian state TV (RTS).

Ivanusa warned of the importance of sticking to protective measures. “Especially where there are lots of people such as in public transport, cafes and restaurants. Those are situation which are the most dangerous in some ways,” he said adding that 90 percent of the population are still susceptible to the coronavirus.

He said that the Serbian health care system reacted well to the pandemic. “Its capacities proved sufficient because they were transferred to the treatment of coronavirus patients along with testing and isolation facilities.
