Coronavirus infections surge in Croatia with 95 new cases since Wednesday

Ninety-five new cases of infection with the novel COVID-19 coronavirus have been identified in Croatia in the last 24 hours, 40 of them in Osijek-Baranja County alone, the national coronavirus crisis management team said on Thursday.

This brings the total number of people infected to date to 2,483 while 2,149 have recovered.

Forty of the latest cases are from Osijek-Baranja county and 25 from the City of Zagreb. Nine of the new cases are from Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, seven from Zagreb County, five from Zadar County, two from Sisak-Moslavina County, two from Istria County, and one each from Brod-Posavina, Sibenik-Knin, Virovitica-Posavina, Split-Dalmatia and Varazdin counties.

There are no patients on ventilators; 42 people are being treated in hospitals and another 227 are in self-isolation. To date, 2,149 people have recovered and 107 have died.

In the past 24 hours 919 people have been tested for the virus, bringing the total number of people tested to 74,657.
