The Bosniak member of the tripartite Presidency expressed solidarity with citizens of Sanzak, a region in Serbia and Montenegro mostly populated by Bosniaks, and called upon Bosnia’s institutions to help secure medical equipment for the region which has reportedly seen an increase in new coronavirus cases and fatalities recently.

“I share the concern about the newly emerged situation and express solidarity with the people of Sandzak,” said Sefik Dzaferovic on Monday, adding that he has been in constant contact with the Bosniak National Council in Sandzak and Bosniak officials there regarding the situation.

He said that officials from Sandzak informed him that what they needed the most is professional medical help.

“I expect that medical teams composed of doctors and other medical staff will be formed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would travel to Sandzak to provide assistance in cooperation with Bosnian and Serbian institutions,” he said.
