Only one new coronavirus case has been identified in Slovenia after 272 tests performed in the last 24 hours, and two infected persons have died, the Slovenian government said on Monday.

The only case was recorded in the municipality of Slovenj Gradec.

Since the start of the outbreak in the country, 2,181 cases of infection with the novel Covid-19 coronavirus have been confirmed and 122 of infected people have died.

Currently, there are 228 active cases, 20 people are hospitalised and one of them is in intensive care.

Epidemiologists are pleased that the situation in Hrastnik is calming down because no new cases have been recorded there for the fourth day in a row. Forty-three cases have been confirmed there to date, with a local nursing home declared a hotspot.
