A total of 1,034 people have been tested for the coronavirus in Slovenia in the last 24 hours and 32 new infections have been confirmed, five fewer than on the previous day. There have been no new fatalities, the Slovenian government said on Twitter on Saturday.

Sixteen people diagnosed with COVID-19 are hospitalised, and three of them are in intensive care units.

On Friday, 937 tests were conducted and 37 new cases were confirmed, which is the highest number of new cases in a single day since April 3, which local epidemiologists consider a worrying increase.

Since a large number of the new cases are “imports” from Croatia, Slovenian experts on infectious diseases have said that they will propose next week that the government tighten the regime for the entry of passengers from Croatia.

Most of the new cases are young people, and one of the reasons for tightening the border regime is the imminent start of the new school year and the need to maintain conditions enabling physical classes.
