A US expert for the Balkans and a professor at Washington' Johns Hopkins' University said late on Tuesday there was no strict parallel between Republika Srpska (RS) the Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Kosovo, former Serbia's province within the ex-Yugoslav republic.

“RS is an inseparable part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since (its creation) was the only way to end the (1992-1995) war there,” Serwer told the Vijesti.ba website.

He added that the Serb member to the Bosnian tripartite Presidency Milorad Dodik should thank Americans above others, since if the war lasted another ten days “RS would not have existed anymore.”

On the other hand, he added “Kosovo is independent because by separating from Yugoslavia it secured that there would not be a war again. In other words, if peace is your standard, both outcomes are reasonable.”

Commented on Dodik's letter to Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic documents about alleged anti-Dayton politics by the High Representative, the international community and the Bosnian Constitutional Court, Serwer said that “when you see all others, but yourself as a problem, it may be up to you after all. ”
