US Special Representative for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer said on Wednesday that Washington sees no relevant comparison between Kosovo and the Republika Srpska (RS).
“Kosovo is a country and we have diplomatic relations with it. As for the RS, the framework for its political future was defined by the Dayton peace agreement and that is a future for Bosnia-Herzegovina which is independent and has territorial integrity,” Palmer was quoted as saying by Sarajevo daily Dnevni Avaz. What is happening with the RS is an internal issue for Bosnia-Herzegovina, he said.
He said that Washington would like to see an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina which would open the road to the European Union for them. According to Palmer, the White House Agreements are intended to support a normalization of economic relations which should lead to a normalization of political relations.
