An updated list classifying countries according to their epidemiological situation shows that the regime of entry into Slovenia from Croatia has been adapted to the local situation, with most Croatian counties being on an orange list of epidemiologically safer regions.
This means that all Slovenian nationals and those who have permanent residence in Slovenia will be able to return to the country from “orange” counties in Croatia without having to show a negative test for COVID-19 or self-isolate, local media said reporting on a decision the country's government made on Sunday.
The counties in question are the ones bordering with Slovenia and most other counties, except for counties in central and southern Dalmatia and three counties in western Slavonia, which have remained on the red list of epidemiologically unsafe regions.
The new epidemiological safety lists are adapted to European recommendations under which epidemiologically safe or green states or regions are those that have a maximum 25 active cases of the infection per 100,000 inhabitants, while Slovenia's criterion so far has been stricter, putting that number at 10 active cases.
Under the new criteria, as of today, considered as epidemiologically safe are also Cyprus, Finland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Serbia and Uruguay.
Austria has remained on the green list despite a recent increase in infections, except for Vienna and eastern provinces which are on the red list, which makes entry for people arriving from there conditional on a negative test for COVID-19 or 10-day quarantine.
The situation in Slovenia, where the epidemiological situation has been deteriorating in recent weeks, is not improving significantly.
The government said on Monday that 909 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours and that 39 infections have been confirmed, while two patients have died. A day earlier, 1,917 tests were done and 159 new infections were confirmed.
The reproduction rate of the virus is still high, around 1.3, and more measures to fight the epidemic are expected in the coming days.
