The trial of the fugitive former boss of Dinamo Football Club, Zdravko Mamic, and six other defendants charged with defrauding the club of about HRK 200 million (€26.6m), was postponed on Monday after the second defendant Damir Vrbanovic failed to appear in court in the eastern city of Osijek.
At the start of the hearing Vrbanovic's lawyer, Janjko Grlic presented a health certificate confirming that his client had got an elevated temperature on Friday and that his doctor had referred him to testing for coronavirus on Monday.
A new hearing was scheduled for October 26.
Mamic, who holds dual Croatian and Bosnian citizenship, fled to Bosnia and Herzegovina in June 2018, the day before the announcement of the verdict sentencing him to six and a half years in prison. Mamic is being tried before Osijek County Count in his absence.
