The Croat National Assembly in Bosnia (HNS BiH), an organisation made up of Bosnian Croat political parties, expressed support for French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday in his battle against the "Islamic terrorism," arguing that Croats in Bosnia also experiences the consequences of “extremist Islamist activities.”

“As the umbrella political institution of Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the HNS BiH expresses full support to French President Emmanuel Macron in the fight against Islamic terrorism. Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina have felt the consequences of extreme Islamist activities during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the Mostar terrorist car bombing in 1997, the murders of Croat police officers in Central Bosnia, and the murder of members of the Andjelic Catholic family on Christmas Eve 2002,” the HNS said.

“Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina are the leaders of the European path of our country,” the political organisation reiterated.

“We strongly believe that, together with our partners from the EU, we can help keep the area of Europe, which is in a way a cradle of Western civilization, as a crossroads of different cultures and religions that are prepared to accept the European way of life,” it said.

The HNS expressed its deepest condolences to the people of France and especially to the families of the victims of the recent terrorist act.

“Our sympathy is all the greater especially because during and after the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we personally experienced and felt the consequences of Islamic terrorism,” the statement said.
