There have been 1,508 new coronavirus cases and 38 related fatalities in Slovenia in the last 24 hours, government spokesman Jelko Kacin said on Friday, noting that despite a slowing down in the spreading of the virus there was no need to relax the existing restrictions.
The 1,508 new cases is about 300 fewer than on Thursday and there are three fewer fatalities than yesterday, which saw a record 41 deaths.
“The latest data indicates a slowing down of the spreading of the disease, but the situation in hospitals is still very serious,” Kacin said, adding that there was no reason to relax current restrictions.
Currently, 1,199 Covid-19 patients are receiving hospital treatment, including 195 on ventilators and doctors assess the situation as critical. The number of daily fatalities has not been declining either.
Sixty-three people in intensive care wards in Ljubljana are in critical condition, the head of the intensive care department of the Ljubljana University Hospital, Matjaz Jareb, said.
