The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) again called on Serbia to arrest and extradite Petar Jojic and Vjerica Radeta without further delay, who the IRCMT held in contempt.
Judge Liu Daqun requested that “Serbia implement the arrest warrant for the accused, to enable their transfer to the seat of the IRMCT”, the legal successor of the Hague Warcimes Tribunal.
The judge's order said the key witnesses against Jojic and Radeta made it clear again that they would not testify if the trial were handed over to Serbia.
That ” makes it impossible for the trial in Serbia,” because “the information that witnesses have raises serious concerns about the possible impact that the trial in Serbia would have on the safety, privacy and well-being of witnesses and their families.”
Prosecutor Diana Ellis previously requested that the president of the Hague tribunal report Serbia again to the UN Security Council, for refusing to arrest the two Radicals and extradite them to The Hague.
The president of the court, Carmel Adjius, had earlier reported to the Security Council that Belgrade was not cooperating in this case.
The Tribunal accused Jojic and Radeta of influencing witnesses in the trial against their party leader Vojislav Seselj, convicted war criminal, who was sentenced to ten years in jail.
The two are accused of threatening, blackmailing witnesses and trying to bribe them to change their statements or not testify.
