Bosniaks and Bosnia and Herzegovina are politically, “ideologically and intellectually in disarray,” and US President-elect, Joe Biden, and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, are their wild cards, said former Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija on Wednesday.
“Regarding Biden and Merkel, I honestly believe that God looked upon us. The pro-BiH politics has preserved Bosnia and Herzegovina politically, along with patriots, the majority of Bosniaks and a big number of Serbs and Croats,” Lagumdzija said.
But this kind of politics is disappearing, while Bosniak national politics is in defence mode compared to the Serb and Croat secessionist ones, he said.
Six years ago, neighbouring Croatia adopted a Resolution on cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“They treated BiH like a state and they believed that this was the biggest interest of the Croat people in BiH,” he said.
Serbia had the same approach, he said, adding that the current Serbian President changed it.
“Now the Croatian Parliament is adopting a Resolution on the care for Croat people while paying lip service to Bosnia and Herzegovina to make the European Union happy,” he said.
“Our wild cards are Biden and Berlin,” Lagumdzija concluded.
