The Municipal Court in Mostar issued a decision revoking a recent decision to temporarily ban a general strike by the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) Health Workers' Union and the Mostar University Clinical Hospital Union. The leaders of the two unions said Tuesday that this was a great victory for the health workers of this canton.

“We're continuing the general strike which was interrupted briefly. It will continue in all HNK health institutions. The HNK government and Health Ministry should be ashamed for making ut turn to the Court instead of reaching an agreement a long time ago and resolving all outstanding issues,” head of the HNK Health Workers’ Union Dalibor Vukovic said.

The head of the University Clinical Hospital Union in Mostar, Ivica Anic, pointed out that justice has won because the unions have been working in accordance with the law from the beginning. He thanked the membership and the media, saying all this was the union's first victory. Unfortunately, patients could suffer during the general strike, so he believes that the Government will react urgently.

“We understand the people but I believe they understand us. We are forced to strike. The patients in the care of the Mostar Hospital will receive full medical care and won't even know we're on strike,” he noted.

Last week the unions took to the streets while waiting for the Court decision and called the local authorities to sing the Collective Agreement which would allow them to work with full respect for their rights.
