Prime Minister Ana Brnabic was vaccinated at the Torlak Institute in Belgrade on Thursday, officially launching the coronavirus vaccinations in Serbia.

Dr Darija Kisic Tepavcevic, formerly of the Batut Public Health Institute now Minister of Labor, Employment, Social and Veterans’ Affairs, was also vaccinated along with epidemologist Dr Predrag Kon of the government pandemic Crisis Staff and several others. They received the Pfizer vaccine, a shipment of which arrived in Belgrade earlier this week.  

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said earlier that top state officials be vaccinated first to show that the vaccine was good.  

Serbian officials said earlier that residents of retirement homes would also be vaccinated starting on Thursday.
