The ‘Lipa’ migrant camp in Bosnia’s northwest has reduced to ashes after the migrants set on fire most of the tents as they were leaving the location on Wednesday.
The camp closed down on Wednesday leaving more than 1,000 migrants who were accommodated there in the open, in winter conditions.
While the European Union urges the local authorities to create conditions to temporarily relocate the migrants and accommodate them in ‘Bira’ centre in Bihac, Bosnia’s northwest, the authorities of that region, Una-Sana Canton, refuse the centre reopening and warn about the security risks over the migrant presence.
