Acquitted Dragicevic in Strpci war crime case seeks more than 140,000 BAM in damages from BiH

In the continuation of proceedings regarding the compensation claim, witness Dragan Prokovic testified that he knew Dragicevic from the period when they both worked for the gambling company “Djio,” which operated in Belgrade. He said he worked as an auditor, while Dragicevic was employed in physical security, maintaining order at the company’s facilities.

“He worked for us from the beginning of 2003 or 2004. He had a service contract,” Prokovic explained, adding that Dragicevic worked there until 2007. He clarified that Dragicevic returned to the company from 2010 until, as he recalled, 2015.

Prokovic said he learned through conversations with the company owner that Dragicevic had court proceedings in BiH. As he explained, the company “Djio” began suspending operations in 2016.

Attorney Aleksandar Cokesa submitted an amended claim requesting that Dragicevic be awarded 54,000 BAM in compensation for non-material damages, along with statutory default interest. For material damages, the plaintiff requested payment of 92,902.40 BAM, also with statutory default interest.

Assistant State Attorney Mladen Draganic did not attend today’s hearing.

By a final verdict of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragicevic was acquitted of responsibility for allegedly issuing orders for the removal of civilians who were later killed in the Visegrad area.

He filed the compensation claim due to restrictive measures previously imposed on him, which, as he stated during one of the hearings, caused him health problems and loss of income.

The court will issue a ruling on Dragicevic’s lawsuit within the legally prescribed deadline, BIRN reported.
