Bosnia’s state police arrested on Friday an advisor to the mayor of the northeastern town of Zivinice and the director of the Djurdjevik coal mine who they suspect of criminal association related to bribery.
The arrests were ordered by the Tuzla Canton Prosecutor’s Office, according to spokesperson Cazim Serhatlic.
Advisor to the mayor of Zivinice, Abdulah Zukic, and the director of the coal mine, Samir Suljic, allegedly abused their positions when they asked a security agency in the area of Zivinice to pay a bribe for the debt created by the Djurdjevik Coal Mine related to the provision of security services by this agency, Serhatlic said.
“They asked for a commission or a bribe of 15 percent of the value of 300,000 Bosnian Marks, which is approximately 45,000 Bosnian Marks,” he said.
