Wednesday marks the 31 anniversary of the martyrdom of 69 Serb civilians and soldiers on St. Peter's Day in 1992 in the villages of Sase and Zalazje in Srebrenica and Biljaca and Zagoni in Bratunac. For this reason, family members and survivors gathered at the monument and ossuary in the village of Zalazje.

Radivoj Zekic's three brothers were killed. One of them is still missing. Despite their advanced age, he and his wife Mileva plan to leave Bosnia. “There is no life here,” they say.

Around 10 members of Radivojo's family were killed. Some he found, some he has not yet. According to his wife Mileva, they were killed in ambushes in the villages, and some on St. Peter's Day.

“We have no memories, no life even for those who remained alive. The youth are leaving us. I'm old, I'll go too. There is no life here,” said Mileva.

Radivoje said that there is no justice for those killed and that there is no hope that they will ever see it.

Branimir Kojic, president of the Assembly of the Organization of Families of Captured and Missing Civilians of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska (RS) entity, said that they repeat the same thing every year:

“This is a crime without punishment.”

“If we know that four people were sentenced to 29 years for crimes in Podrinje, zero years in prison for Bratunac, one person for Srebrenica – this clearly shows that the Court and the Prosecutor's Office are not doing anything. It offends us that none of the international officials come here. If they came, we wouldn't even know how to behave, they haven’t been here for 31 years,” Kojic said.

Ten captured on St. Peter's Day in 1992 are still missing, while ten were accidentally found and exhumed in 2011 in Zalazje during the search for Bosniak casualties. Two of the missing were found in other locations.
