According to data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH, transportation prices recorded the largest monthly increase in September, rising by 3.4 percent, followed by housing and utilities, which increased by 2.5 percent. Price increases were also recorded for clothing and footwear (2.6 percent), education (1.8 percent), healthcare (0.5 percent), and food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.6 percent).
Compared with September last year, the largest annual price increase was recorded in transportation, where costs rose by 27.6 percent. This was followed by housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, with an increase of 12.7 percent.
Healthcare services and products also became more expensive, with prices rising by 5.8 percent, while prices in restaurants and hotels were 4.3 percent higher than a year earlier. Increases were also recorded for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, communications, recreation and culture, and education.
Two major categories recorded annual price declines in September this year. Food and non-alcoholic beverages were, on average, 0.1 percent cheaper than in September last year, while clothing and footwear prices fell by 6.9 percent.
The data show that inflation is being driven primarily by energy and transportation costs, with price increases gradually spreading to other areas of consumer spending.
