
The wife of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Doris Schmidauer, has paid a formal visit to the Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to a statement from the Jewish Community of BiH, this notable visit conveys a powerful message of bilateral friendship and mutual esteem, reinforcing a shared commitment to the principles of dialogue, tolerance, and the celebration of diversity.
Austria’s First Lady was received by the President of the Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jakob Finci, alongside Rahela Dzidic, President of the Jewish Municipality in Sarajevo, and Vladimir Andrle, President of the Jewish cultural, educational, and humanitarian society 'La Benevolencija'.
During a warm and open exchange, the delegation highlighted the illustrious, centuries-old history of the Jewish people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, noting their enduring contributions to the nation’s cultural, social, and economic fabric. Particular significance was placed on the preservation of a collective European heritage, the promotion of a culture of remembrance, and the vital task of bequeathing these values to subsequent generations.
The discussions also encompassed the vital role of interfaith dialogue and the ongoing necessity to robustly combat antisemitism, intolerance, and all manner of discrimination.
The Jewish Community of Bosnia and Herzegovina extended its sincere gratitude to Ms Schmidauer for her genuine warmth and support, expressing confidence that her visit will serve to further cement the friendly relations between the two nations.
The First Lady was accompanied by Katharina Grunbichler of the Office of the Austrian President and Klara Wuketich, First Secretary of the Austrian Embassy in BiH.
