Banja Luka pays tribute to Holocaust victims

A Memorial panel discussion was held Thursday night at the Jewish Cultural Center "Arie Livne" in Banja Luka, on the occasion of the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust.

The panel discussion was attended by the BiH Presidency Chair Zeljka Cvijanovic, President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity Milorad Dodik, RS National Assembly Speaker Nenad Stevandić, RS Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation Zlatan Klokic, Deputy Speaker of the RS Council of Peoples Nada Tesanovic and Director of the Entity Secretariat for Religions Dragan Davidovic, as well as other RS high officials, guests from the diplomatic world and the Jewish community of Banja Luka.

One of the speakers at the event was the non-resident rabbi from Jerusalem, Eliezer Papa, and the chief rabbi of Serbia, Isak Asiel.

The event is organized by the Jewish Municipality of Banja Luka and the Society of Serb-Jewish Friendship.

Previously, a number symbolizing the 6,000,000 Jews who perished in the Holocaust was displayed on the ‘RS Palace’ building on the occasion of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, with the message “We remember” which is universal and is used by all Jewish organizations and communities in the world.
