Disruptions in air traffic at major European hubs, such as Germany, also have an impact on the wider network, including the airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to a statement from BHANSA, the ongoing strike by pilots of Lufthansa, organized by the Vereinigung Cockpit union, continues to cause flight cancellations and adjustments, particularly at the Frankfurt and Munich hubs. As a result, there is a reduction in traffic that would normally pass over Bosnia and Herzegovina or connect with these destinations.

According to operational estimates, a temporary decrease in traffic of approximately 5 to 10 percent on a daily basis is expected, depending on the intensity of the strike and airlines' adjustments.

At Sarajevo International Airport, occasional flight cancellations or changes are possible, along with reduced availability of connecting flights. However, these are limited disruptions that do not affect the overall functionality of the airport.

Part of the traffic is being redirected via alternative routes or handled by other airlines, mitigating the overall impact on the network. Therefore, no major disruptions in the functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s airspace are expected, BHANSA stated.

In coordination with EUROCONTROL and the Network Manager, BHANSA added that it continues to ensure safe, stable, and efficient air traffic management services while closely monitoring the situation.
