BiH CEC: Preparations for new election technologies proceeding as planned

In cooperation with the supplier, the consortium of Smartmatic BH d.o.o. and DSC d.o.o. Smartmatic BVI, the BiH CEC has carried out key preparations for the implementation of specific election technologies for the General Election, scheduled for October 4, within a short timeframe.

Ongoing activities include testing and configuring devices, printing and checking ballot papers, verifying QR codes, and training members of polling station committees, operators and field technical support staff.

The BiH CEC said the progress achieved is particularly significant given the complexity of the project, the introduction of new election technologies, the short implementation timeframe and the late conclusion of the contract.

Photographs from the warehouse showing the equipment configuration process confirm the intensity of the work and the engagement of all participants involved in implementing the project.

The BiH CEC also stressed that, despite the challenges and obstructions that accompanied the public procurement process, its members and Secretariat staff, the Temporary Unit for the Implementation of Specific Election Technologies, municipal and city election commissions, the supplier and other partners continue to work intensively to complete the remaining activities within the planned deadlines.

The OSCE Mission to BiH and non-governmental organisations are providing significant support to the process through cooperation and expert assistance aimed at strengthening election implementation capacities.
