The Islamic Community (IZ) in Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted the proposal for the formation of the Milan congregation of the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Italy (IZBI) at the 60th regular session held in Sarajevo.
The official initiative for the formation of the Milan congregation was launched this Ramadan, and after the approval, preparations for the founding assembly followed.
According to Ahmed Tabakovica, acting the chief imam of IZBI, the Islamic Community’s approval for the establishment of the congregation in Milan shows that IZBI, although the youngest and smallest umbrella organization of the IZ in the diaspora, is taking a step forward.
He noted that Bosniaks in Italy have a desire for organization and that they recognize the Islamic Community as an institution that preserves and protects their interests.
After the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in Italy was formally established in 2019, and Nermin Fazlagic from the Nur Verona congregation was elected as its president, IZBI has been continuously expanding.
