BiH prosecutors charge nine suspected of wartime killings of about 100 people

BiH Prosecutors submitted an indictment against nine former members of the Bosnian Serb army suspected of war crimes which included the killings of about 100 people in Zijemlje, between Nevesinje and Mostar, in 1992.

The suspects are former commanders and members of the Army of Republika Srpska and are charged with crimes against Bosniak victims from the Nevesinje area - the murder of about 100 victims, including dozens of women, elderly people and children.

Almost the entire families Ploskic, Sipkovic, Alicic, Alibasic, Mahinic, Brajevic, Copelj, as well as other victims, were killed in the crime. The remains of 49 people have been found, while the remains of 47 victims are still being searched for.

Prosecutors expect 88 witnesses to testify in the trial and will present 116 pieces of material evidence.

The defendants are Zdravko Kandic, Dragan Djurdjic, Dragan Ivanisevic, Goran Doslo, Milan Trifkovic, Sinisa Kandic, Dragoslav Acimovic, Mladen Kandic and Damir Antelj.
