The boom on the river Drina broke again due to the increased flow of water and a large amount of floating waste and it could seriously endanger the operations of the hydropower plant ‘Visegrad’, which is just a kilometre away.
The director of the hydropower plant, Nedeljko Perisic, said that the inflow of water was close to 1,500 cubic meters per second and that the same thing happened at the beginning of January.
He explained that the boom cannot be fixed and that a new one will be procured.
Perisic noted that workers at the hydropower plant pull large amounts of floating waste that arrives via the tributaries of the Drina daily.
