European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said he hopes that the answer of Belgrade and Pristina to the Franco-German proposal for the normalization of relations will be a breakthrough in the dialogue process.

“In the coming days, we will see which is their answer to this proposal, and I hope it will represent a breakthrough and a leap forward in this process,” said Borrell prior to the G17 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Munster, reported the European External Action Service (EEAS).

Borrell said that the Western Balkans will also be on the agenda and added that resilience and reconciliation are the two key words for this region.

Resilience is about increasing their economic and political capacity to face the challenges, and reconciliation is about overcoming the legacy of the past, he added.

Borrell noted that the EU is the biggest investor in the Western Balkans and that it also supports the region in the fight against disinformation, cyberattacks and hybrid threats coming from Russia.
