Bosnia and Herzegovina Catholic bishops send congratulation letter to Leo XIV

The Catholic bishops of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Friday sent a congratulation letter to Pope Leo XIV on his election as the pontiff of the Catholic Church, expressing the joy of their faithful over these developments.

They stated that the entire Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina rejoices in the successor of Peter, who will strengthen his brothers and sisters in the faith.

Alongside their heartfelt congratulations to Pope Leo XIV on his election, they highlighted the importance of his call for peace, reconciliation and dialogue, a message that awakens new hope in a time of division.

They recalled the thousand-year loyalty of the Croatian people to the successors of the Apostle Peter, expressing hope that Pope Leo XIV will be a spiritual father and shepherd who understands the needs of his faithful.

The letter of congratulations was signed by Tomo Vuksic, Archbishop of Sarajevo and President of the Bishops’ Conference of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Petar Palic, Bishop of Mostar-Duvno; and Zeljko Majic, Bishop of Banja Luka.

They expressed filial devotion to the Pope and pledged their prayers for his courageous and faithful service to the Church.
