Bosnia and Herzegovina's Justice Minister, Davor Bunoza, and Spain’s Minister of Presidency, Justice, and Parliamentary Relations, Félix Bolaños, held a bilateral meeting followed by the signing of a Joint Declaration on cooperation and exchange of best practices in the judiciary.

Minister Bolaños praised Bosnia's progress on its path to EU membership and emphasized how Spain's governmental structure could offer valuable insights for Bosnia's complex system. He reaffirmed Spain's support for Bosnia's EU integration.

Minister Bunoza expressed gratitude for Spain's continued friendship, recalling its support during the war, and highlighted the importance of learning from Spain's advanced digitalization in justice systems to enhance Bosnia's judicial reforms.

The Joint Declaration aims to bolster Bosnia's EU accession process and strengthen mutual trust between the two nations. It underlines the importance of rule of law, judicial independence, and public confidence in the legal system—key principles for Bosnia's EU integration, particularly under Chapters 23 and 24 of the EU accession process.

Both ministers agreed that meeting fundamental standards in judicial efficiency and quality is essential to ensuring the rule of law and safeguarding citizens’ rights. The signing was part of the EU4Justice project, supported by the European Union, aiming to align Bosnia's judicial system with European standards.
