Academic Slavo Kukic, a prominent professor and social activist, has passed away. The news was confirmed by his close friend Stipe Prlic, Head of the Croatian National Assembly in BiH, to N1.
Born in 1954 in Posusje, Kukic had an illustrious academic career. He earned his degree in political science from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo in 1977, followed by a master's degree in social sciences in 1983, and a PhD in sociology in 1986.
Throughout his career, Kukic held various academic and leadership roles, including a long tenure at the Faculty of Economics in Mostar, where he worked until his retirement in 2018. He was known for his extensive teaching and research, having authored or co-authored 35 books and studies, and contributed to numerous academic projects and publications.
Kukic also played an active role in social and political life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including serving as the head of the FTV management structure for nine years and participating in several NGOs. He was elected as a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2012 and became a full member in 2018.
