Sehanovic is a PhD candidate at the Bordeaux Montaigne and Sorbonne Nouvelle universities in France.

He has been a professional reporter since 1992 “with a focus on music and cultural events he broke into a broader former Yugoslavia scene in the mid-90s,” the website said.

Sehanovic said that he considers Bosnia’s diaspora extremely important in all segments of decision-making, including in the field of film art.

“There is a large diaspora of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in America, there are many quality people who spread the name and importance of our country outside its borders and their voice should be heard,” he said.

Other than Sehanovic, the BHFF competition programme jurors are Adjunct Professor of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a faculty affiliate of the Harriman Institute, Tanya Domi, and Polish filmmaker Kamila Kuc.

“I am honoured to be invited by the BHFF Festival Directorate to be a guest of the New York Festival and a member of the jury. I want to contribute to the selection of this year's festival laureate with my experience in monitoring the film industry and festivals,” Sehanovic said.
