Bosnia’s foreign trade deficit reaches over € 4 billion

BiH exports from January to September 2023 amounted to 12 billion and 655 million Bosnian marks (roughly €6.3 billion), which is 6.4 percent less than in the same period last year, while imports amounted to 20 billion and 767 million marks (some €10.4 billion), which is 1.9 percent less.

The import-export ratio amounted to 60.9 percent, while the foreign trade deficit amounted to 8 billion and 112 million marks (nearly €4 billion), the BiH Statistics Agency said.

Exports to CEFTA countries amounted to 2 billion and 358 million marks (approx. €1.1 billion), which is 5.4 percent less than in the same period in 2022, while imports amounted to two billion and 438 million marks (some €2.2 billion), which is six percent less than in nine months of the previous year.

The import-export ratio with CEFTA countries was 96.7 percent.

Exports to European Union countries amounted to 9 billion and 311 million marks (around €4.7 billion), which is 6.8 percent less than in the same period last year, while imports amounted to 12 billion and 172 million marks (around €6 billion), which is two percent more.

The import-export ratio with EU countries was 76.5 percent.
