A fire broke out early morning Wednesday at the Chinese shopping mall in New Belgrade.

The fire was reported at approximately 7 am.

Head of Internal Affairs Ministry Sector for Emergency Situations Luka Causic told N1 that 62 firefighters with 17 vehicles have been dispatched to the site.

He said several explosions have been heard, and added that firefighting helicopters have also been deployed and that more fire-rescue unit members are arriving.

“We have no information on whether anyone has been injured,” said Causic, adding that it will take time to extinguish the fire.

A fire also broke out in the same shopping mall in 2021 in which the largest part of the building burned down.
