Counselor of the US State Department Derek Chollet asked Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti to accept the European Union (EU) proposal on normalization of relations with Belgrade.

“Spoke with (Kosovo) Prime Minister Albin Kurti to discuss the EU proposal on normalization of relations with Serbia and to urge Kosovo to accept it,” Chollet wrote on Twitter.

He added that the key theme of the talks was the partnership between Washington and Pristina and the shared goal of advancing Kosovo’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

The US State Department Counselor said the Association of Serb Municipalities was also discussed.

“We also discussed the importance of Kosovo’s multiethnic character and moving forward with discussions of the Association of Serb Majority Municipalities in the context of the Dialogue, and the need for Kosovan Serb officials to return to their posts,” Chollet wrote.
